The municipalities of Bluewater, Goderich, South Huron and beyond receive water service from lake water in-take plants located at Goderich and Grand Bend. All other areas throughout the county are serviced by Municipal and private wells.
Health Care
Huron County is well-served by a broad health care delivery network that includes traditional and alternative medicine.
Five accredited hospitals committed to delivering quality health care are conveniently located across the county; a variety of out-patient services, ready access to visiting specialists and convenient close-to-home surgeries provide excellent patient care for residents. Three modern medical centres and an active public health unit provide access to a wide range of additional programs and services for area residents.
Education
A variety of public and private learning opportunities are available to Huron County residents. There are 30 Elementary Schools and 5 Secondary Schools throughout the county, all with safe school policies.
Post-secondary learning opportunities at every level - from trades and PhDs to professional and vocational - are available within an easy commute. There are two of the largest community colleges in Ontario, and four Universities located within a half hour to 1.5 hour drive of the boundary of Huron County.
University-level courses are offered, in partnership with the University of Western Ontario, by the Lake Huron Learning Collaborative. Full and half-credit courses are offered during the academic year in Goderich.
