Speaking before Council
Speaking before Council

There may be times when a citizen, or group of citizens, wish to express an opinion on an issue. Delegations are encouraged to make presentations to the standing committee responsible for a particular issue rather than addressing County Council. Committee meetings are more conducive to open discussion on an issue and tend to be less formal than Council meetings.

Anyone wishing to make a presentation to a Committee or County Council should apply in writing to the County Clerk, Barbara Wilson. In order to be sure that delegations are listed on agendas, all requests to speak must be received not less than ten (10) days prior to the meeting date of the Committee or Council.

Requests must include the name(s) of the speaker(s) and the subject matter to be discussed. All delegations are limited to 10 minutes. Any documentation being submitted must be provided in electronic form, as Council is paperless.

The County Clerk's office is located at the Court House in Goderich and can be contacted at 519.524.8394, ext. 257 or toll free 1.888.524.8394, ext. 257.
